If any of the above information is not correct, please notify your HUD Home Ownership Center (HOC), in writing, with the correct information. Also, it is your responsibility to notify your HUD HOC when you renew your license or certification and provide documentation of the renewal. An appraiser cannot be selected by a lender from the Roster if the appraiser's state license or certificate has expired and HUD has not been notified of the renewal.

If you have not already done so, you must obtain a copy of HUD Handbook 4150.1 REV-l, Valuation Analysis for Home Mortgage Insurance, dated March 15, 1990 and read it in order to become knowledgeable of HUD appraisal requirements before accepting any HUD appraisal request. A copy of this Handbook can be obtained from HUD by writing to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Printing Branch, Room B-l00, 451 7th Street SW, Washington DC 20410. (There is no charge for this handbook.) You can also fax your request to (202) 708-2313.

In addition, we strongly encourage that you attend a training session on HUD appraisal requirements either sponsored by HUD or by some other credible source, such as a local appraiser trade organization. By obtaining training, you will be more prepared to perform an appraisal that will meet HUD requirements. You are reminded that the Ethics Provisions of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice state that an appraiser must not accept an appraisal assignment which the appraiser is not competent to perform     If you have any questions concerning the Roster, please contact your HUD HOC.

Sincerely,
